Moon Spells – Complete Cycle of Magic

Moon spells are important to Witches who look to the phases of the moon to provide them with guidance, balance, prosperity, success and love in their life.  Casting spells based on the phases of the moon can help you stay organized and bring order to your magic.

To give you an idea of how moon spells work, the following is a basic outline of the different types of moon magic you can take part in during the different moon phases:

New Moon Magic – The new moon is for starting new beginnings or ventures.  It is also a time for health, love, romance or job searching.  You can cast moon spells in reference to the new moon from the day it begins up until three and a half days after it starts.

Waxing Moon Magic – The waxing moon is for constructive magic purposes, and includes moon spells for love, success, wealth, friendship, courage, health or luck.  The waxing moon occurs approximately seven to fourteen days following the new moon.

Full Moon Magic – The full moon is the ideal time for performing rituals for protection, divination and prophecy.  Anything in one’s life that requires extra power such as healing for a serious ailment, finding a new job, etc. should be done during this phase.  Other moon spells to be cast at this time include love, legal undertakings, knowledge, dreams and money.  The full moon occurs fourteen to seventeen and a half days from the new moon.

Waning Moon Magic – The waning moon is the time to banish magic, and rid oneself of any negativity including illness and addictions.  The waning moon occurs three and a half, to ten and a half days from the full moon.

Dark Moon Magic – The dark moon is the phase designated for dealing with enemies.  It is also a time to uncover our darkest emotions and understand our passions and angers.  Moon spells cast during this stage are often associated with justice.  The dark moon occurs ten and a half, to fourteen days from the full moon.

Now that you know the basic gist of the different phases of the moon, something else you may want to consider making part of your moon spells experience is full moon oil

Full Moon Oil – This is oil used to anoint candles or oneself during a full moon ritual.  It can also be used during times when the energy of the moon is needed for moon spells.  This oil need to be made before the full moon, and consist of the following ingredients:

• 13 drops of sandalwood essential oil
• 9 drops of vanilla essential oil or extract
• 3 drops of jasmine essential oil
• 1 drop of rose essential oil
